| This site is dedicated to providing information about the Volkswagen Type 3 Karmann Ghia and other Type 3 related information. The 'Type 34' was produced from 1961 through 1969 as a higher end alternative to the original Karmann Ghia. Total production was slightly over 42,000 and included both a coupe and an electric sunroof version. The electric sunroof version was one of the first production cars ever made with this feature -- only Porsche offered the electric sunroof before it became available in the T34s. Karmann also had plans to introduce a convertible version but high production costs associated with reinforcing the rockers caused them to drop the project. |
